My daughter was recently given a prescription for Propecia but had been taking it for 6 months now. She has gained about 6 hairs per month since starting. The problem is that most of the hairs have not been in the back of her head, but she still has some hair in her head. She's not noticing anything at all. She is taking it as prescribed. She is also a bit anxious about the hair loss. I think she should start treatment and see if it works for her. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Propecia is the only hair growth treatment I use. I use Proscar and finasteride, both of which are similar to Propecia. The problem is that they are both quite expensive and not for very long. However, I am looking into finasteride. Finasteride has some effect but the side effect is less noticeable. I have tried many other brands of Propecia, but none seem to work for me. I will not recommend finasteride.

I would not recommend finasteride.

Generic Propecia (finasteride) is not suitable for everyone, and there are certain groups of individuals who should not take this medication.

1. Women: Generic Propecia is intended for use in men only. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not handle crushed or broken Generic Propecia tablets due to the risk of absorption through the skin, which could potentially harm the developing fetus or nursing baby.

2. Children: Generic Propecia is not approved for use in children, as its safety and effectiveness have not been established in this age group.

3. Allergic reactions: Individuals who have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to finasteride or any of the ingredients in Generic Propecia should avoid taking this medication.

4. History of prostate cancer: Finasteride can interfere with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, potentially masking the presence of prostate cancer. Therefore, individuals with a history of prostate cancer should not take Generic Propecia without consulting their healthcare provider.

5. Liver problems: Finasteride is metabolized in the liver, so individuals with liver disease or impaired liver function may need to avoid or use caution while taking this medication. Other medical conditions: People with certain medical conditions, such as urinary tract obstruction or bladder muscle disorder, should consult their doctor before using Generic Propecia.

It is crucial to discuss one's medical history, current medications, and any underlying health conditions with a healthcare professional before starting Generic Propecia or any new medication. Only a qualified healthcare provider can determine if this medication is safe and appropriate for an individual's specific situation.

What Is Generic Propecia?

Generic Propecia (finasteride) is a medication used to treat male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men. It is prescribed to men who have been experiencing hair loss for a long period of time, even after they stop taking finasteride. Generic Propecia works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for breaking down a drug's active ingredient, finasteride. This allows the drug's active ingredient, 5-alpha reductase, to block the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can contribute to hair loss.

Generic Propecia is also used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Symptoms of an enlarged prostate include:

  • Enlarged prostate
  • Decreased ability to perform sexual intercourse
  • Increased pressure in the throat
  • Pain or difficulty urinating
  • Pain in the testicles

In addition to generic Propecia, several other medications may also interact with Generic Propecia. These medications include:

  • Blood pressure drugs, such as diuretics
  • Antibiotics, such as erythromycin
  • Certain medications for high blood pressure, such as diuretics
  • Cancer medications, such as indomethacin

For an accurate list of medications that can interact with Generic Propecia, consult the manufacturer's patient information manual.

While Generic Propecia is approved by the FDA to treat male pattern hair loss, it may not be safe and effective for everyone. Some may have an increased risk of adverse effects.

Talk to your doctor before starting treatment with Generic Propecia if you have any other medical conditions, or are taking other medications. They may be able to prescribe a different brand of Generic Propecia, depending on your age, body hair growth, and other factors you can monitor for. Be sure to discuss your medical history with your doctor before starting Generic Propecia or taking any new medication.

Before taking Generic Propecia, discuss your medical history with your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe a suitable dose for you, depending on your age, hair loss, and other factors.

Finasteride may cause a drop in your blood levels of a crucial hormonal substance, so check to make sure you're not taking a blood thinner or steroids before starting Generic Propecia or stopping treatment with Finasteride.

It is important to maintain good medical hygiene and follow your doctor's instructions regarding hygiene and administration of any medication. Proper medical supervision is necessary during treatment with Generic Propecia.

Propecia, also known by its generic name finasteride, is a medication primarily used to treat male pattern baldness, androgenetic alopecia, a common form of hair loss. It's also available as a topical solution, as an oral tablet, or as a shot, which can be taken by mouth. The primary purpose of the medication is to prevent the formation of thinning hair on the scalp, which can lead to unwanted side effects. However, some users find that they can achieve and maintain the desired results, especially if they're using Propecia as a hair loss treatment. The active ingredient in Propecia, finasteride, works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for male pattern baldness. By blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT, Propecia can help prevent further hair loss and promote regrowth in men with hair loss. Additionally, Propecia can help reduce the risk of developing prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-positive breast cancer, a type of cancer that is often associated with male pattern baldness. However, the potential side effects of Propecia are generally not worth the risk to the individual who uses it.

How Does Propecia Work?

Propecia works by inhibiting the production of DHT, a hormone that can cause male pattern baldness.
